W
whorl foot: A foot in the shape of a carved scroll, typically found on the end of a cabriole or other curved leg. Originating in the Louis XIV (Baroque) period, it's often associated with Louis XV Rococo styles. Also referred to as scroll foot/scroll toe or escargot foot.
wine tasting table: A small, round or slightly oval table for use in the wine cellar. The top is hinged so that it may flip up or down, flush with the table base. The practicality of the table is ideal for wine cellars as space is often limited in these quarters. With the top tilted down, the table can easily be stored along a wall.
wrought iron: An easily welded and forged iron. Forged iron is bent, beaten, cut or otherwise shaped when hot, which is different from cast iron which is molded.
