Title

A striking 18th century French Country Louis XV period bonnetiere handcrafted of solid oak by skilled artisans from the Normandy region, circa 1750s, having a large carved, stepped and molded circular edge cornice above a beautifully carved single molded panel door featuring rocaille, c-scrolls, and floral and foliate motifs. Opens to reveal four interior shelves and three drawers. The carved, shaped apron rests on pieds de biche. A fresh French polish allows the wood to shine and the beautiful and rich patina accents the elegant design of this antique French bonnetiere.

French bonnetieres were originally designed to store the elaborate, high bonnets worn by ladies in the Normandy and Brittany regions during the 17th and 18th centuries. Today they can be used in any room to store just about anything — from linens in a powder room to sweaters in a bedroom or toys in a playroom. They can also be fitted for refrigeration or for wine storage.
