Title

A fine Louis XVI style bureau plat from the last quarter of the 19th century that is richly decorated with gilt bronze ornamentations and parquetry inlay from fruitwood trees. The attractive olive green leather writing surface has beautiful gilt tooling framing the edges. Finely chiseled and finished bronze anthemions highlight the spandrels. Writing slides withdraw from either side to enlarge the surface when necessary. A single central drawer is flanked by a smaller drawer on each side, this mirrored on the reverse of the desk with faux drawers. The body is raised over tapered legs terminating in brass sabots. This neoclassical writing table is fully finished on all sides, allowing it to float in any room.

Dimensions:

h - 31"

w - 51"; 83" when writing slides fully extended

d - 29"
