Title

A masterful fusion of rustic industrial strength and Old World refinement, this bespoke French artist’s shelf or étagère is a dramatic statement piece handcrafted in Provence. Created by a talented artisan known for repurposing historical elements into striking modern forms, the tall shelving unit blends reclaimed and antique components into a functional work of art.

The substantial plinth base and molded crown are newly built from reclaimed pine and given a weathered charcoal-gray finish that echoes traditional French painted furniture. Three fixed shelves offer ample room for displaying books, objets d’art, or studio tools. The standout feature, however, lies in the striking 19th century giltwood fragments incorporated into the structure — originally architectural elements, these gilded baluster-like forms now serve as elegant columnar supports along the sides, their timeworn gilding adding richness and historical depth.

A remarkable and versatile étagère, this piece transitions beautifully between interiors, from French château-inspired salons to loft-like ateliers or refined contemporary spaces. Whether used in a library, a boutique, or a designer’s studio, it embodies the timeless innovation of bespoke French industrial design. We have two available. *Shown with a second étagère, each sold separately. This listing is for the featured artist shelf only.
