Title

A striking grand scale early 19th century French Louis XV style Rococo giltwood mirror handcrafted by very talented artisans near Chambord in the Loire Valley. The moulded frame is adorned with an elaborately carved pierced crest with rocaille centering a cabochon cartouche in the manner made popular during the reign of King Louis XV. Richly carved floral garlands drape on each side with acanthus leaves flanking the lower portion of the mirror. Inner border features les perles (beading that resembles a strand of pearls) next to the original antique mirror glass, and red oxidation shows through the beautiful water gilded patina that is original to the piece. The unique appearance of the original mirror glass adds charm and character that is impossible to achieve with new mirror glass.

With its grand proportions and exquisite carved décor, this French Rococo style mirror from the early 1800s will be a great focal point in any room, perhaps placed above an enfilade, console table, or chest of drawers.
