Title

A sculptural Mauro Manetti signed duck ice bucket, designed and produced in Italy circa 1960–1970. A striking example of mid-century Italian barware, this piece embodies the playful glamour and bold decorative spirit of the era.

Crafted in silver-plated cast aluminum, the exterior is richly detailed with finely modeled feathers and a beautifully articulated head and tail. The interior retains its original metal liner, characteristic of the earliest and most desirable productions, designed to properly hold ice while preserving the integrity of the silvered exterior. The duck separates cleanly at the center to reveal the removable ice compartment. Signed “M/M ITALY” along the tail, this mark identifies it as an authentic Manetti piece from the original production period.

The form is elegant yet whimsical, with a proud neck, softly curved body, and detailed plumage that catches the light beautifully. The silvered surface has developed a soft, authentic patina consistent with age, enhancing its sculptural depth and vintage character. Both decorative and functional, this duck ice bucket is perfect for serving ice cubes, chilling sorbet or ice cream, or simply making a dramatic statement on a bar cart or dining table. A quintessential accessory for elevated entertaining, it brings a sophisticated touch of Italian mid-century design to any gathering. A true conversation piece — equal parts sculpture and serveware.

Mauro Manetti was an Italian designer known for his highly stylized animal form barware and decorative objects produced in Florence during the 1960s and 1970s. His ice buckets — especially the duck, swan, pineapple, and apple forms — became icons of Hollywood Regency and mid-century entertaining. The early examples, like this one, were silver-plated over cast aluminum with fully metal interiors; later versions were often produced with plastic liners, making these earlier pieces particularly sought after by collectors.
