Title

A vintage mid-20th century red lacquered French Louis XIV style buffet deux corps having chinoiserie motifs hand painted in a raised pigment style in parcel gilt, circa 1940s. The upper cabinet features three carved raised panel arched doors that open to reveal a light pistachio green painted interior with three shelves. The bottom buffet has three carved raised panel doors and also opens to reveal the same light pistachio color interior and a single shelf for storage. Raised on a plinth base. A fabulous statement piece with plenty of storage, this beautiful and versatile French chinoiserie cabinet will mix well with both modern and traditional interiors to create a look that appears as though it's evolved over time.

Chinoiserie is a European style of decorating that reached its height of popularity in the 17th and 18th centuries. Made popular by Louis XIV and his Petit Trianon, most chinoiserie pieces were influenced by original Chinese works and then stylized with a whimsical European spirit
