A hard to find set of twelve 19th century French Louis XIII style os de mouton walnut dining chairs, each with a tall chapeau de gendarme back and square-section seat, upholstered in a golden damask fabric and finished with large nailhead trim. The sturdy walnut frames are supported on carved os de mouton (sheep-bone) legs joined by an “H” stretcher, a hallmark of French Louis XIII style seating. The shaped stretcher and beautifully patinated walnut frames add warmth and depth, showcasing the natural character developed over generations of use.
