Mid-19th Century French Country Louis XV Style Oak and Fruitwood Marquetry Enfilade Buffet
A mid-19th century French Country Louis XV style enfilade buffet handcrafted of solid oak by talented artisans near Vannes, a fortified medieval town in the Brittany region of northwest France, circa 1850s. Having a molded edge rectangular plank top over a bank of three carved drawers with original iron hardware flanked by a pair of carved panel doors on one side and a single door on the other that all open to reveal a single shelf for storage. Carved, shaped apron raised on short cabriole legs ending in scrolled French toes. This beautiful antique French buffet features carved, stylized rocailles, palmettes, "S" and "C" scrolls, and inlaid fruitwood marquetry stars. Perfect for entertaining, it has plenty of storage and a nice serving surface. The narrow depth of this versatile piece makes it perfect for a dining room, foyer, or den. Would also make a fantastic vanity in a bath.
