Title

A striking blend of rustic Provençal charm and elegant craftsmanship, this 19th century French dining table pairs a solid white oak plank top with a decorative hand-forged iron base. Handcrafted by talented artisans in the sun-drenched town of Uzès in southern France, a region celebrated for its artisanal traditions, Roman architecture, and vibrant outdoor markets, this table embodies the enduring beauty of French countryside design.

The top, with it's softened edges that form a rounded-oval, has acquired a beautiful sun-bleached patina as a result of more than a century of use under the hot Provençal sun — giving the wood a pale warmth that allows the grain to shine through and complement both rustic and refined settings. Its generous proportions, including a rare 41" depth, make it ideal for today’s lifestyle, offering ample room for entertaining and gathering.

The hand-forged iron base is richly detailed — a sculptural counterpoint to the smooth wood surface. The decorative apron is adorned with pierced ironwork, a rhythmic guilloché-style pattern of interlocking rings, bordered by scalloped edges and square medallions with concentric rosette centers. The legs curve in classic scrolled form, displaying open cartouches with crisscrossing ironwork reminiscent of lattice patterns, and terminate in flat feet. An X-shaped stretcher with a turned iron finial connects the legs, providing structural support while completing the neoclassical silhouette.

The entire iron base retains its original painted finish, and the timeworn patina, now weathered and distressed with areas of rust that highlight the texture and authenticity of the aged metal, contributes to the piece’s lived-in elegance. Strong yet gracefully proportioned, this antique table blends the solidity of handcrafted construction with the romance of Provençal style, while its mixed materials and organic palette make it a standout in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Whether used as a dining table in a farmhouse kitchen or as a garden table under a covered terrace or veranda, this Provençal beauty offers both form and function. With a clearance of 25.5 inches from the skirt to the floor, it provides ample legroom beneath the apron while anchoring the space with historical charm. *Louis XVI Style Balloon Back Chairs sold separately.
